Protospace 3.0 – design proposal/generative procedure

11 09 2009

“ Protospace is a vehicle for transdisciplinary research, education and design in form of a virtually augmented transaction space”(Kas Oosterhuis). In order to design that research laboratory for collaborative design in real-time, we were using a generative procedure that enabled people from different specializations ( styling, manufacturing, structural group, interactive group, MEP group ) to work simultanously on the project and inform each other. A component based methodology that we were using, allowed us to incorporate different functions by controlling parameters of one topology of the component. The components were supposed to be 3D milled pieces of reinforced EPS.

Protopace 3.0 was a design task for msc2 studio at the Hyperbody Research Group/TU Delft. We were responsible for form modelling and creating generative procedure in rhinoscripting

LaN + Workshops Factory present IaaC NIGHT NEW YORK hosted by Studios GO

9 09 2009

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia is a latest-generation education and research centre dedicated to the development of an architecture capable of meeting the worldwide challenges in the construction of habitability in the early 21st century. Based in the 22@ district of Barcelona, one of the world’s capitals of architecture and urbanism, the IaaC is a platform for the exchange of knowledge with faculty and students from over 25 countries, including the USA, China. India, Poland, Italy, Mexico and Sudan. Students work simultaneously on multiple scales (city, building, manufacturing) and in different areas of expertise (ecology, energy, digital manufacturing, new technologies), pursuing their own lines of enquiry on the way to developing an integrated set of skills with which to act effectively in their home country or globally.

7-9 pm FRI SEPT 18 at Studios GO

Week 4: Solar Gain Study: Students learned to inform their designs by importing external data from an excel spreadsheet. This provided knowledge allowing for color coding solar gain levels and parametrically adjusting building skin apetures.

WF is about to teach at WAPW

3 09 2009

Starting from October 2009, workshops factory is going to run a seminar during the master course at the Warsaw University of Technology. The seminar will raise the theme of computing in architecture, being focused on parametric modelling and CAM technologies. The aim of the course will be to fabricate 1:1 scale installation at the faculty of architecture at WAPW.
